Several records have been created and broken in the World Cup over the years. Turkey’s Hakan Sukur holds the record of scoring the fastest goal in the competition’s history when he netted in the 11th second of their third-place play-offs match against South Korea in 2002.
English football legend, Bryan Robson scored within 27 seconds from kick-off against France at the 1982 World Cup and in 2014, USA’s Clint Dempsey scored a goal in the 30th second of a group stage tie against Ghana.
