Goalkeeper (GK)

Position Overview

• Position: Positioned within the goal area as the team’s last line of defense.
• Role: Prevent goals, organize the defense, and start attacking plays.
• Attributes: Reflexes, handling, communication, and positioning.

Responsibilities

1. Shot-Stopping:
   • Save attempts on goal using hands, feet, or body.
2. Commanding the Box:
   • Handle aerial threats by catching or punching crosses and corners.
3. Distribution:
   • Initiate counterattacks with accurate throws, kicks, or long passes.
4. Sweeper Role:
   • Clear through balls outside the penalty area when required.
5. Defensive Leadership:
   • Direct defenders during set-pieces and open play.
